I love Advent! I love all the physical reminders of the season – the Advent Wreath, and the nativity scene without baby Jesus in the manger. However, I’m not so fond of all the rushing around that the season usually brings.

As a teacher, I always remember feeling that the Christmas holidays were barely holidays at all! The rush to visit the Christmas lights, to go and see Santa and two different Nativity plays, the Carol Service and every long lost relative. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy every moment but, it cannot be described as a peaceful holiday!

What is the season of Advent for?

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that Advent is a time when we share “in the long preparation for the Saviour’s first coming” and we renew our “desire for His second coming” (CCC, 524). Easier said than done, right?

An Invitation…

This Advent, we would love you to join us for a time of reflection and prayer.

As part of our new CPD package you can access three 30 minute Advent retreat sessions. These will take place 3.30-4pm on Thursday 1st, 8th and 15th December 2022.

Each session will be a chance for you and your colleagues to stop, rest and pray. It will be a chance to reflect on who Jesus is and how He wants to come into our lives this Advent.

You can join us for one session or for all of them. Don’t forget that if you can’t make it at those times you can use our ‘Watch Again’ functions so you don’t miss out. If your school already has the CPD Package, then you can register for the individual retreat sessions by clicking below.
