Parent Sessions

'How To Talk To Your Child About Pornography'
&
'Discussing Smartphones'

Why not host one of our two free sessions for parents and carers? Parent Sessions are a free online resource for schools aimed at parents and carers of children in Catholic schools in England and Wales.

Created by Ten Ten Resources, both sessions are available as part of your subscription to any of our Life to the Full programmes. You can find them by opening the sidebar within your programme and clicking on the ‘Parent’ accordion – ‘Engaging Parents’.

Parent Sessions

How To Talk To Your Child About Pornography

This session is designed to help parents talk to children about the very important but sensitive topic of pornography. The session can be delivered online or hosted in person at your school and is for parents and carers who have children in KS2 and KS3.

This session aims to:

  • Explain why it is necessary for parents to address the challenging topic of pornography with their child
  • Demonstrate how the Life to the Full primary and secondary programmes cover the topic of pornography in a Catholic context
  • Give practical suggestions to help parents talk to their children about pornography in a respectful and age-appropriate way

Parent Sessions

Discussing Smartphones

This session looks at some of the new research on the impact of smartphones on young people. It aims to inform and empower parents to make the right decisions for themselves and their children.

This session aims to:

  • Explore the impact of smartphones on young people
  • Facilitate discussion amongst parents about smartphone usage
  • Provide suggested resources to help parents make informed decisions

Parent Sessions

How it works?

There are two ways you can host a parent session – either online or in person in your school. Whichever way you host the session we hope it will be an opportunity to engage with parents and carers and build up your home-school partnership.

The session will last approximately one hour and include opportunities for short times of discussion. Schools will be provided with support and guidance on how to run the session.

Parent Sessions

How should schools invite parents to attend?

The way you communicate with parents is up to you, but we have provided template letters. We have also produced a promo video that you might like to use for the session ‘How To Talk To Your Child About Pornography’

Watch the promo video for parents now, which explains more about the session.
