Relationships, Sex and Health Education*

Join over 70% of all Catholic secondary schools in England and Wales using Life to the Full for their RSHE provision.

Life to the Full ensures that “space is made in the curriculum for RSHE.” The programme content “expresses the teaching of the Church” and is delivered to “suit the age of the children or young people to whom it is addressed.” (Bishops of England and Wales, ‘Learning to Love’ 2017)

We enable your school to deliver teaching through the prism of Catholic RSHE. The framework of our programme is taken from the Model Catholic RSE Framework by the Catholic Education Service, which the Department for Education has highlighted as a work of good practice.

Scheme of Work

There are 35 sessions in Life to the Full, plus 7 cinema-in-education programmes.

This means that every year group has:

  • 7 lessons per year, or
  • 14 lessons per year if using extended activities
  • 1 cinema-in-education programme per year, which could be delivered over 3 lessons or on a drop-down day

Sixth Form classes can also undertake the programmes for Years 9-11 in conjunction with our two Sixth Form specific Cinema-in-Education sessions.

Headteachers, Governors and SLT

As a Headteacher, Governor or member of SLT in a Catholic school in England, you have a specific responsibility to ensure that your Relationship, Sex and Health Education scheme of work is fit-for-purpose in terms of the DfE statutory guidance and the expectations of your diocese. Similarly in Wales, as well fulfilling the expectations of the diocese, your Relationships and Sexuality Education should be compliant with the Welsh Guidance and Code for RSE.

For many years, Ten Ten Resources has been working in partnership with almost all Catholic dioceses in England and Wales, as well as the Catholic Education Service, to create a fully-resourced scheme of work that will not only meet the new statutory guidance but will provide a truly faith-based programme which will provide the foundation to enable the entire school community to build positive and healthy relationships now and in the future.

We have two E-Learning Training Courses to support you in this:

Schools in England: produced in partnership with the Catholic Education Service and funded by the Department of Education

Schools in Wales: produced in partnership with the Catholic Education Service and funded by the Assumption Legacy Fund

Parents

One of the most distinctive features of a Catholic Relationships, Sex and Health Education programme should be emphasising the vital role that parents have in nurturing their children on these matters. Ten Ten Resources provides a variety of resources and tools to help you engage with your parents.

  1. Parent Consultation Tool provides parents and carers with a full and honest appraisal of the Life to the Full programme, and gives parents an opportunity to ask questions about the programme.
  2. Online Parent Portal provides an overview for parents of every session, including suggestions for Home Learning activities.
  3. Hosting Parent Sessions provides a way for you to engage parents and carers in topics relating to Life to the Full by hosting information sessions either online or in school.
  4. Parent Access provides access to parents of the lesson content their children will be studying in Life to the Full. This is either through the Online Parent Portal or through Full Programme Access requested by a parent through the school to Ten Ten Resources.
