Here at Ten Ten Resources we have two Cinema-in-Education resources that can be used with Sixth Form students, but we have also partnered with the team at Sycamore and we recommend that the Sycamore Course resources could be used in Year 12 and 13 as part of General RE. Ten Ten’s Year 12 Cinema-in-Education: Common Room
‘Common Room’ is about managing the opportunities that come with increased freedom. It shows students discerning their way in the world and considering the value of friendship and guidance from others. The film deals with issues concerning drugs, alcohol, relationships, work, success and failure.

The film gives pupils information about the hidden world of human trafficking and offers a realistic look at the reasons for the continuance of slavery today. ‘Bakhita’s Prayer’ asserts human equality and dignity, and as such it’s an inspiring portrayal of and call to action for a life lived in hope and thanksgiving.

Sycamore is an informal course about the Christian faith and its relevance for life today. It gives participants space to meet other people, share ideas, explore their beliefs, and think about questions that really matter. Each session involves a short film and time for discussion.
Sycamore Conference – Saturday 29th October
On Saturday 29th October the Sycamore team will host their main Conference in London. This is open to everyone – whether you are considering using Sycamore or have been running Sycamore groups for several years.
The Sycamore Conference offers introductory sessions and training for those just starting out or who want to improve their approach. They will also have several Case Studies from people who are using Sycamore in parishes, schools and across whole Dioceses, who will share their experiences and tips for using the videos in each context.
Fr Stephen Wang will be the keynote speaker, with the aim of inspiring attendees’ efforts to evangelise, and highlighting areas in which Sycamore has grown recently and where it is undergoing development.
Lunch and refreshments are included in the ticket price and the venue is accessible.
Sycamore Community Day – Sunday 30th October
On Sunday 30th October, the Sycamore team are launching a new event: the Sycamore Community Day.
Also held in London, this will be a more collaborative and practical day, a chance for people to bring their skills and expertise to the Sycamore project. Whatever your background, whether you have skills in social media and marketing, creative writing, data analysis, illustration or just a passion for evangelism, you are very welcome to join!
Tickets are limited for the Community Day so sign up quickly if you are interested in attending the day.

Why is pornography a problem?
