Wales is the land of dragons, bards, bara brith, hymns and arias, – but how much do you actually know about St David, patron saint of Wales? Find out in our Patron Saint Prayer for St David’s Day on March 1st.

Given Wales is famous for its storytelling heritage, it seems fitting that World Book Day comes shortly after on March 3rd! On World Book Day we celebrate the richness of literature and the power of stories to exhilarate and inspire. We’ve produced a special assembly which holds up God’s word, the Bible, as ‘the greatest story ever told’ and uncovers a treasure trove of wisdom, comfort and advice which is as relevant for us today as it was when it was first written.

In between these falls Ash Wednesday (March 2nd), which marks the beginning of Lent – the season of the Church year when we commit to prayer, fasting and almsgiving as a means of preparation for Jesus’ death and resurrection at Easter. Use our special Ash Wednesday service to mark this date and inspire children to deepen their faith in Jesus.

Later in the month we have a special Patron Saint Prayer for St Patrick’s Day (March 17th) – an opportunity to learn from the Apostle of Ireland about how a shamrock can teach us about the Holy Trinity.

Then, to celebrate Mothering Sunday (27th March), we have produced an exciting prayer resource which tells the story of Sim and Nell, a brother and sister duo who were determined to bake a cake for their Mum… This prayer resource can be used in assembly or in the classroom to help children pray for and appreciate the mothers and mum-like figures in their lives.

As shown, ‘Other Resources’ really does do what it says on the tin! Feel free to let us know how you get on with the resources shared in this article – we love to hear from you. We’re always looking to expand our offering of ‘one-off’ resources that fall outside of the usual calendar of Gospel-inspired assemblies and daily prayers, so do let us know of anything you’d particularly like to see us produce.
