On Friday 17th February 2023, Ten Ten Resources hosted this event in response to an invitation from the Catholic Education Service in Wales to provide CPD for teachers and wider school staff in Wales, in order to support them as they begin to implement the new Welsh Government Statutory Code and Guidance for RSE.
In preparing for the day, we hoped that it would inspire schools to deliver a curriculum programme which enables children and teenagers to live a Christ-centred life to its fullest.
We are delighted to share with you the joys and successes of the first Welsh National Catholic Conference Day for RSE.
Over 70 Catholic schools in Wales set aside their inset day on 17th February to be a part of this unique conference, and 1398 members of school staff were registered participants.
We’re grateful to Archbishop Mark O’Toole and Bishop Peter Brignall for being with us to lead our times of prayer throughout the day.
Of the 12 workshops we offered as part of the day, the most well-attended included: Teaching RSE in a Catholic Context, LGBTQ+ in Life to the Full, On-boarding Life to the Full Primary, Spiral Curriculum Primary and ALN (SEND) Differentiation.
Encouragingly, our exit survey showed that the conference helped to equip and encourage staff to feel more confident about implementing the Welsh Government RSE Statutory Guidance and Code in their school.
